Now, if only the series were named after D.D's colleague, Bobby, they'd be close to perfect. Nonetheless, besides that particular literary mystery, these are FINE BOOKS. D.D.'s wrongly focused-on PERP is, yet again, the heart and soul of the book. HE should be the focus of these books as, yet AGAIN, the supposed "perp", zeroed in on and hounded by D.D., turns out to be, not only considerably smarter than D.D., more resourceful than D.D., more interesting and brave than D.D., BUT ALSO TOTALLY INNOCENT. THAT skill belongs to her considerably more interesting, more talented, more amusing, and MUCH better cop, Bobby. She's peripheral, unpleasant without being amusing ("bite me" is about as pithy as she gets), is FAR too horny, and is most usually wrong. And, once again, one is left wondering WHY D. Yes, the author repeats phrases as nauseum "Two Point Two Children", "Yada Yada", and everyone is always "shaking".
